Case Study Abingdon

Thamesview, Abingdon, Oxfordshire was a light industrial unit that was selected for redevelopment by Barratt, Maidenhead.

RPS EES was commissioned to investigate the proposed site as part of a full due diligence and risk mitigation strategy initiated by Barratt (Maidenhead). Having previously provided Explosives Engineering support to the adjacent Abbey Lakes site RPS EES utilised the information gained during this operation and were able to quickly establish that there was a real munitions contamination threat. RPS EES were then called upon once more to support all intrusive works undertaken on the site.

The site is currently being developed and numerous items of ordnance found on a weekly basis. Working in consultation with the developers regular disposal operations have been conducted on the site by the Army without any loss of work time being incurred.
